Two weeks this summer 30 of our youngsters together with their parents and a few art professionals had a wonderful time at Arvest Camp. We brought together a pianist, a dancer, two painters, a singer, and a theater director to see if we could create a fun and amusing environment for children to learn and play. And when we added an Armenian teacher and two young ladies who love to teach and play games with a few younger helpers, the combination was quite promising.
Watertown’s Public School Management gave us access to Lowell Elementary School facilities including the use of Art, Music and Teachers rooms and the gym of course. Every morning we greeted our children in the playground at 8 AM and began the day with Armenian History and traditions. Most were well informed about Armenian subjects such as who Mesrop Mashtots is, what Khor Virap is, where Yerevan is and the independence of Armenia. Then an hour or two of art, dance, music and drama followed by lots of fun and games including soccer and basketball and let’s not forget the snacks in between.
Thank you all for the good times.
