This new CD [Hayrenee Ghoghanjner] by renowned Armenian composer Konstantin Pertossian was recorded live in 2003 at Aram Khachaturian House-Museum Hall in Yerevan, Armenia. A choral cycle consisting of ten folk songs arranged by Pertossian, offers varying genres and themes which give an exquisite and picturesque illustration of life in the Armenian countryside. The CD also includes a vocal cycle called “Menakhosutyun” (Monologue), a suite for piano, four miniatures for string quartet, and songs “Hayastan”, “Diramayr”, “Mer Azgee Sirt, Ararat”. The 2003 concert, organized by the Armenian Musical Assembly, featured soloists Anna Shiroyan, soprano; Garo Nichanian, bass-bariton; Fr. Emmanuel Vartanian; Babin Bogossian, tenor; Alina Pahlevanian, soprano; Arevik Khalatian, piano; the Komitas Chamber Choir directed by Hovhannes Mirzoyan and String Quartet of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory of Music.
Maestro Konstantin Pertossian is the Cultural and Music Director of Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Armenian Church in Providence, Rhode Island . He serves as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Armenian Chorale of Rhode Island and the Armenian Chorale of Greater Worcester, Massachusetts.
