What does Amaras mean?

Amaras is the name of an old Armenian monastery located in Nagorno Karabakh. It is among the world’s oldest Christian monuments and is the place where the inventor of the Armenian alphabet, St. Mesrob Mashtots, founded a school. The monastery is located near the town of Soss in the Martuni region. Amaras was established in the 4th century by the legendary St. Gregory the Illuminator.

Amaras currently manages three funds: the Badalian Music Fund, the Yeznig Film Productions Fund, and the Hagop Karapents Fund.

Humans have always documented their actions and traditions.

An anonymous volunteer proposed creating a list of homes or workplaces of notable Armenians that have been turned into public museums.

Our programming is as diverse as are the people in the alliance, yet the core remains dedicated to the performing arts with a keen focus on children: from young to the youth.
