Concerts/Aram Khachaturian Centennial all year long

The 100 anniversary of the birth of composer Aram Khachaturian was proposed to the UN by the government of Republic of Armenia and supported by the Russian Federation.
UNESCO’s association with the celebration in 2002-2003 was approved during the 31st session of the General Conference in Paris in 2001
The anniversary is listed as part of UNESCO’s Celebrations of Anniversaries Resolution #44
The video clip by Marimba Ponies came from www.ebaumsworld.com AND the following [with small edits] was found at http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2006/02/the_marimba_pon.html February 20, 2006
The Marimba Ponies do Sabre Dance
My joy at finding this video clip of The Marimba Ponies was tempered by embarrassment when I discovered that I already own a few LPs by the Marimba Ponies and I didn’t even realize it. I think I’ve been collecting records too long – and I don’t even consider myself a collector. But I digress. Here are The Marimba Ponies, who operate internationally without the crutch of conductor or sheet music, bouncing and prancing rhythmically in order to foster international goodwill, doing Sabre Dance. The Marimba Ponies are aged four through twelve, at which point they are forcibly retired from the marimba business and offered gainful employment dodging lizards with the J-Pop girl group.
