All politics is local
Tip (Thomas) O’Neil was a favorite son of Massachusetts and an influential political leader of 20th century America. He was the Speaker of the US House of Representatives for five consecutive sessions and always spoke of a golden rule which his father had taught him when he was a young man.
Taking our cue from Tip, we asked ourselves: “Is all culture local as well?”
— we haven’t gotten a definitive answer yet… although we have a good idea that “local” matters very much and connectivity and relations matter just as much . . so we keep promoting art and the artist, children and their teachers; pros and even other promoters .. all with a volunteer working group.. and we keep on searching for an answer
If you’d like to share your thoughts with us about this or other matters of culture, please drop us a line here.
In the meantime we’d like to share with you a few words about our programs. By the way you can view these as our hopes for the future as well. The information bellow is in the same order as our menu on the left
The Performing Arts
We produce our programs working with children and professionals as well as their parents, teachers and agents. In some cases we act as the sponsoring organization for a touring performer or group and help organize events outside of our immediate area. We have tried to categorize our presentations in the following areas:
- Children- Center Stage
- Young Performers
- Seniors
- Music For life
- Jubilee Celebrations
Education Programs
Teaching and learning are a life long commitment for our volunteers. To make sure our children and the youth as well as their parents and those who take care of them are all safe and healthy, we should continue to organize seminars, camps and public presentations. Here are a few which we are involved in:
- Children
- The Youth
- Health & Safety
- Public Presentations
Visual Arts
Visual art is present in every aspect of our programming on stage and off. Here in this particular category our aim is to promote the artist who creates the visuals.
- Varteni, painter – she is on her way to a major show in Istanbul
- Tom Vartabedian, photographer – read his stories in most local papers
- Nune Aghbalyan, textiles – her work is truly utilitarian
Join Our Mailing List and Sponsorship Opportunities are self explanatory and require action on your part. One to record your email address with us so we can let you know about our up coming events and the other for you to become partners with us by making a financial contribution or in kind donation to help us with the budgeting side of the equation. We have placed a Donate button at the top of our Home page so it is easy to make an online contribution. We thank you.
Treasures
One of our volunteer’s who wishes to remain anonymous came up with the idea of compiling a list of homes and/or places of work belonging to prominent Armenians which, after their passing, have been converted to museums for the benefit of the general public. We have embraced the idea and hope she will continue to add more treasure to this chest. We also invite you to see if something along this line would interest you as well.
