Information packages arriving at the HBMF office are reviewed and classified by the Fund Director on an on-going basis. Currently the Fund offers assistance in four categories. Three are for students and one is for non-student applicants
The three programs for students are:
a) Tuition Scholarship
b) Student Sponsoring program
c) Direct Student Aid
Please see the Scholarships page for more details on these programs
The non-student program is a grant which can be applied for by individuals and/or institutions
Once the initial review and classification is complete, the Fund Director will check to see if all the required information has been supplied. He/she will make every attempt to contact the applicant on a timely basis and ask for any missing information and/or additional data as needed
At least once a year, during the months of May and June, the trustees will meet to review the applications and subsequently decide on awards. Three out of five members of the committee must be physically present at this meeting, including the Director. On other occasions when it is not feasible to have a trustee’s meeting, reviews will be done via electronic medium and award decisions will be made via conference calls
Occasionally the committee will invite professionals from the fields of music and education to assist the members and provide guidance in the application review and decision process
All final decisions will be communicated back to the applicants by the Director
All material and documents submitted for review will become the property of the Fund and will not be returned
